The Jaimie Hill & Tammy Lynn Powers Memorial Foundation has been incorporated under the Societies Act of Alberta since 1991. The Memorial Foundation partnered with Canada Olympic Park to build an outdoor Performing Arts facility in 1996. After five years, it was mutually agreed by both parties that an outdoor theatre was not conducive to the needs of Calgary’s dance community.

Since 2001, The Memorial Foundation has diligently searched for a new partner to build an indoor Performing Arts Facility. The Needs and Preference Study completed in 2005 asking the Dance Community what is needed in the way of a theatre facility uncovered these results: that the amateur dance community needs an 800 minimum seat theatre complete with dressing rooms and rehearsal hall; easy accessibility to the facility; free parking is desirable and affordable rental fees. We now have two prospects in the horizon and hope to be in the position to make an informed decision on a partnership in the very near future.
